Bola Ahmed Tinubu Wins Landslide Across Kaduna, Rivers As APC Holds Presidential Primaries

Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, has concluded its nationwide presidential primaries with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recording sweeping victories across several states, including Kaduna, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Ogun, and Bayelsa.

The exercise, conducted simultaneously across 8,809 wards nationwide, featured two contenders — Tinubu and businessman Stanley Osifo. Results released by party officials showed Tinubu dominating the polls with overwhelming margins in nearly all states announced.

In Rivers State, Tinubu secured more than 280,000 votes while Osifo failed to record a single vote in the declared local government areas. Similar outcomes emerged in Kaduna State, where party members unanimously endorsed Tinubu’s second-term ambition during the affirmation exercise held across all 255 political wards in the state.

Akwa Ibom also delivered a massive turnout, with Tinubu polling over 389,000 votes. In Kogi State, he recorded nearly 200,000 votes, while Ogun State returned more than 322,000 votes in his favour. Party leaders described the results as a strong indication of grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after casting his vote in Ikoyi, Lagos, Tinubu said democracy thrives through active participation and institutional strength rather than “noise and speculation.” Governors, lawmakers, ministers, and APC stakeholders across the federation also participated in the direct primaries.

The APC is expected to officially present Tinubu with the party’s Certificate of Return and presidential flag in Abuja following the completion of result collation. Political observers say the landslide outcome further cements Tinubu’s grip on the ruling party as preparations intensify for the 2027 presidential election.
