Tinubu Declared Winner Of APC Presidential Primary With 10.9m Votes

President Bola Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election after securing a landslide victory in the party’s nationwide direct primary election.

The Chairman of the APC Presidential Primary Election Committee, Pius Anyim, announced the final results during the national collation exercise held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. According to the committee, Tinubu polled 10,999,162 votes, defeating his only challenger, businessman Stanley Osifo, who secured 16,503 votes.

The presidential primary was conducted across 8,809 wards and 774 local government areas nationwide, with over 11 million accredited APC members participating in the exercise. Party officials described the process as one of the largest direct primary elections ever conducted by a political party in Nigeria.

Tinubu recorded overwhelming victories in several states considered strongholds of the party, including Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, and Rivers. Following the announcement, party members and supporters at the venue erupted in celebration as Tinubu received the APC flag and certificate of return from the party leadership.

In his acceptance speech, President Tinubu thanked APC members for their support and pledged to continue economic reforms, national development, and security improvements if re-elected in 2027. He acknowledged the economic challenges facing Nigerians and promised that his administration would place the country on an “irreversible path of economic expansion.”
