2027 Election: “Wike is an appointee, I have no business with him” – Aisha Yesufu, FCT Senatorial Aspirant
Human rights activist and FCT senatorial aspirant for the 2027 general elections, Aisha Yesufu, has dismissed any political relevance of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in her electoral ambition, describing him as “just an appointee” with no bearing on her political plans.
Yesufu made the remark while addressing questions on political interference and power influence ahead of the 2027 polls, insisting that her campaign is driven by citizens’ mandate rather than establishment politics.
According to her, the struggle for the FCT senatorial seat is about the people and not individuals occupying appointed government positions, stressing that she is focused on engaging voters directly rather than political officeholders.
She maintained that she has no political “business” with Wike, adding that her ambition is rooted in civic engagement and accountability rather than elite political structures.
Yesufu, a prominent #BringBackOurGirls co-convener, has recently intensified her political engagement following her declaration to contest the FCT Senate seat under the 2027 electoral cycle. Her entry has continued to generate reactions across Nigeria’s political space.
Political observers note that her statement reflects growing tensions between activist-driven candidates and entrenched political figures as the 2027 elections approach.
