NAF Bombs Terrorist Hideouts in Sambisa Forest, Neutralises Several Fighters
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a precision airstrike on suspected terrorist hideouts within the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, targeting insurgent enclaves believed to be used for coordination and logistics.
According to military sources, the operation was conducted as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the North-East aimed at degrading Boko Haram and ISWAP capabilities. The strike reportedly hit multiple concealed camps, destroying structures and equipment used by the fighters.
Intelligence reports had earlier identified movement and regrouping activities within the forest, prompting the aerial operation. The NAF confirmed that the mission was successful and executed with high accuracy to minimise collateral damage.
Security analysts say the latest offensive underscores renewed military pressure on insurgent remnants in the region as operations continue to clear out Sambisa Forest, long regarded as a major stronghold of terrorist groups.
The military has assured residents in surrounding communities of continued efforts to restore stability and prevent further attacks.
