You’re Not Forgotten, Abandoned, Tinubu Tells Abducted Borno, Oyo Schoolchildren
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured abducted schoolchildren from Borno State and Oyo State that the Federal Government has not forgotten them, promising continued efforts to secure their safe return.
Speaking during a meeting with security chiefs and education stakeholders in Abuja, Tinubu said his administration remains committed to ending attacks on schools and protecting children across the country. He described the abductions as “painful tragedies” that threaten the future of Nigerian children and undermine national stability.
The President directed security agencies to intensify rescue operations and improve intelligence gathering in vulnerable communities. He also urged state governments to strengthen collaboration with federal authorities to prevent further kidnappings and attacks on educational institutions.
Tinubu assured parents of the abducted pupils that the government is doing everything possible to reunite them with their families. According to him, no child deserves to live in fear or be denied education because of insecurity.
The President further reiterated his administration’s commitment to the Safe Schools Initiative, aimed at improving security infrastructure, surveillance, and emergency response systems in schools nationwide.
Recent cases of kidnappings in parts of northern Nigeria have raised concerns over the safety of students, with civil society groups calling for stronger security measures and faster intervention from authorities.
