Nigeria TV Info – A tragic ferry fire off the coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia, has claimed the lives of three people, while over 500 others have been rescued, according to emergency officials on Monday. The incident occurred aboard the KM Barcelona 5, which caught fire on Sunday while en route from Melonguane port in the Talaud Islands to Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi province. George Leo Mercy Randang, head of the Manado rescue agency, confirmed that search and rescue operations are still ongoing, as data about missing persons continues to emerge. He added that their post remains open 24 hours for families searching for loved ones. The scene was chaotic, with terrified passengers seen leaping into the sea in life jackets as the ferry’s upper deck was consumed by flames and black smoke. Shocking videos posted on social media captured the panic onboard. One survivor, Johan Rumewo, said he floated in the sea for about an hour after escaping the smoke-filled vessel. Initial reports indicated five deaths, but the figure was later revised to three after two additional survivors, including a two-month-old baby, were rescued and hospitalized.
