Nigeria TV Info: Finnish Court Sentences Simon Ekpa to Six Years for Terrorism Charges

Abuja – September 1, 2025

Nigeria TV Info reports that the PÀijÀt-HÀme District Court in Finland on Monday sentenced Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed Biafra agitator, to six years in prison for terrorism-related offenses.

Ekpa, who resides in Lahti, Finland, and previously served as a city councillor, was found guilty of multiple charges, including participation in a terrorist organization and publicly inciting crimes for terrorist purposes.

The court’s ruling marks a significant legal action against the Nigerian-born activist, who has been a vocal proponent of Biafran independence. Authorities noted that Ekpa leveraged his social media presence to promote and incite actions in support of the separatist movement.

Ekpa has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that his advocacy was aimed at promoting Biafra through peaceful means. The verdict can still be appealed in a higher Finnish court.

Nigeria TV Info will continue to follow developments in this case closely.
