National Grid Collapses Again, Power Generation Falls Sharply

LAGOS — Nigeria experienced yet another nationwide blackout on Wednesday as the national electricity grid collapsed.

Reports from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) revealed that power generation plummeted drastically from 2,917.83 megawatts (MW) at 11:00 a.m. to a mere 1.5 MW by 12:00 p.m.

The latest collapse has thrown most parts of the country into darkness, worsening the recurring power supply crisis that has long hampered businesses and households.

Although authorities have yet to issue an official explanation for the incident, stakeholders say the repeated failures highlight the fragility of the country’s power infrastructure.

This is the latest in a series of grid collapses that have continued to raise concerns about Nigeria’s ability to provide stable electricity for its growing population and economy.
