Rivers APC Urges FG to Take Tough Stand on Sowore Over Attacks on Tinubu, Wike

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Federal Government to take a decisive stance against activist and politician Omoyele Sowore over what it described as repeated verbal attacks on President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, the party accused Sowore of making “inciting and disrespectful comments” that undermine the office of the president and the efforts of the FCT minister in governance. The Rivers APC insisted that free speech should not be abused to promote “hate narratives and deliberate insults against national leaders.”

The party further argued that while constructive criticism is welcome in a democracy, consistent personal attacks aimed at discrediting the government should not be tolerated.

It urged security agencies to monitor Sowore’s statements and take necessary steps to forestall what it termed “calculated attempts to destabilize governance.”

Meanwhile, Sowore, known for his activist stance and previous clashes with government authorities, has often defended his criticisms as part of his democratic right to hold leaders accountable.
