Join protest, risk punishment, N’Assembly warns legislative workers
The National Assembly management has issued a stern warning to its staff against participating in any planned protest, stating that such actions will attract severe disciplinary measures. The directive, reportedly sent to all departments, came amid growing agitation among legislative workers under the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) over unpaid allowances and welfare concerns.
According to sources, the management cautioned employees that joining unauthorized protests would be seen as a breach of service regulations, stressing that the Assembly must maintain uninterrupted legislative operations. PASAN, however, insists it will continue pressing for improved working conditions and full implementation of financial autonomy. The standoff heightens fears of potential disruption in parliamentary activities if the crisis escalates.
