Algerian Woman on Trial in France for  Murder of 12-Year-Old Schoolgirl

Dahbia Benkired, a 27-year-old Algerian woman, is facing trial in Paris for the rape and murder of 12-year-old Lola Daviet in October 2022. Benkired allegedly lured Lola into her sister's flat, where she was brutally attacked with scissors and a box cutter, and then bound with duct tape, leading to her death by asphyxia.

 Benkired was reportedly angry with Lola's mother, who refused to give her a badge to access the apartment block.

Security footage showed Benkired approaching Lola, and she had conducted online searches about witchcraft before the murder.

 Benkired was detained after Lola's body was found in a trunk in the lobby of the building where her parents worked as caretakers.

The trial, which began on October 17, 2025, is expected to last until next Friday, with Benkired facing a maximum sentence of life in jail.
