Nigeria TV Info â Ukraine Strikes Major Russian Chemical Plant with British Missiles, Russia Retaliates with Deadly Attacks
Kyiv, Ukraine â October 22, 2025
Ukraineâs military has confirmed that it carried out a precision strike on a key Russian chemical facility using British-supplied Storm Shadow cruise missiles, marking one of the most significant escalations in the use of long-range Western weaponry since the war began.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, Ukraineâs General Staff said the operation targeted the Bryansk Chemical Plant, a facility described as a âcritical part of Russiaâs military-industrial complex.â The plant is believed to produce gunpowder, explosives, and rocket fuel components used in Russian missiles and ammunition fired into Ukrainian territory.
Ukrainian officials hailed the mission as âa successful hit,â stating that the missiles penetrated Russian air defense systems and caused substantial damage to the site. The extent of the destruction is still being assessed, with the military describing the operation as part of a âmassive strikeâ campaign.
In apparent retaliation, Russia launched a wave of drone and missile attacks across several Ukrainian cities just hours later, killing at least six people, including two children, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The overnight barrage caused widespread damage and power outages, with emergency blackouts reported in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and nearby regions. In Kyiv alone, two fatalities were confirmed, while several residential buildings were heavily damaged.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said debris from intercepted missiles struck multiple locations in the capital. The cityâs military administration confirmed civilian casualties, and residents reported loud explosions consistent with air defense operations.
The escalation underscores the growing intensity of the conflict, as Ukraine increasingly employs Western-supplied weapons to strike deep inside Russian territory â a move Moscow has repeatedly warned could provoke severe consequences.
