Nigeria TV Info – APGA Aims for One Million Votes in Anambra Governorship Election
Awka, Anambra State (October 27, 2025) – The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced plans to mobilize its electoral strength to secure at least one million votes for its governorship candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, in the upcoming Anambra State election scheduled for November 8.
Dr. Ejimofor Opara, National Publicity Secretary of the party, made this declaration in a press statement made available to journalists in Anambra. The statement was issued to address and counter allegations suggesting that Prof. Soludo intends to engage in vote buying during the election.
Dr. Opara expressed concern over the trend of voter apathy in previous elections and emphasized that APGA is taking steps to reverse this trend. According to him, the party is introducing incentives for local government areas that demonstrate the highest voter mobilization.
He stated, “We know, and even the opposition knows, that APGA is the dominant party and does not require any kind of inducement to win elections here. The converse is the reality of the opposition in Anambra. In this election, we don’t want to just win; we want to mobilize and exploit the electoral strength of our party and hit the one million vote mark.”
Dr. Opara clarified that the incentives are intended to encourage healthy competition among party members across wards and local governments, which would ultimately boost voter participation. “This is not about vote buying in any way. It is about initiating healthy competition amongst members of our party across wards and local government. A competition that will translate into increased voter participation, not vote buying by any stretch of the imagination,” he added.
He concluded by warning that anyone who finds the initiative disturbing may be benefiting strategically from voter apathy.
