China Commissions New Fujian Aircraft Carrier, Signaling Major Leap in Naval Power

China has officially commissioned its newest and most advanced aircraft carrier, the Fujian, in a move widely seen as a landmark step in Beijing’s ambitions to expand its naval presence and strengthen power projection across the world’s oceans.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Hainan Island, was personally attended by President Xi Jinping — a gesture highlighting both the strategic and political significance of the vessel.
