Dozens Feared Abducted as Terrorists Attack St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School in Niger State

Panic has gripped the Papiri community in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State after terrorists launched a deadly pre-dawn attack on St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School, abducting a yet-to-be-confirmed number of students.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., when armed assailants reportedly stormed the school premises, overpowered security personnel, and forcefully took away students. Witnesses said the attackers moved swiftly, loading the victims into a waiting vehicle before escaping into the nearby forest.

Different accounts put the number of abducted students between 50 and 100, though authorities have not released an official figure.

Security sources told Nigeria TV Info that efforts are underway to ascertain the exact number of missing students as emergency response teams and local authorities continue their assessments.

Confirming the development, Mohammed Inuwa, senior legislative aide to Rt. Hon. Jafar Muhammad Ali, said:
“Yes, it happened around 3 to 4 a.m. The number of students abducted is not yet confirmed. The police command of the local government is informed.”

Security operatives have since been deployed to the area, while search-and-rescue operations have commenced. The Niger State government is expected to issue an official statement as investigations progress.
