Shettima: Nigeria House at Davos Signals Renewed Commitment to Global Economic Engagement
Davos, Switzerland â Vice President Kashim Shettima has declared that the inauguration of Nigeria House at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos is a clear demonstration of Nigeriaâs renewed seriousness and determination to actively participate in global economic conversations.
Speaking at the formal opening of the Nigeria House pavilion on the sidelines of the WEF in Davos, Shettima described the initiative as a historic milestone in Nigeriaâs international economic engagement. He noted that no nation can achieve sustainable prosperity in isolation, stressing the importance of global collaboration in todayâs interconnected world.
According to the Vice President, Nigeria House symbolises a deliberate shift from passive observation to purposeful participation in global economic discourse. He said the pavilion reflects Nigeriaâs readiness to engage the international community with clarity, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose.
Shettima explained that the Nigeria House was conceived as a whole-of-government platform designed to showcase the countryâs economic potential, policy direction, and investment opportunities. However, he emphasised that its true strength would lie in robust private sector participation.
âEnterprise, innovation and capital are the engines that translate policy into real economic growth,â the Vice President said, adding that government alone cannot drive development without the active involvement of businesses, investors, and innovators.
He noted that Nigeria House provides a strategic space for meaningful dialogue between policymakers, global investors, development partners, and business leaders, aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a competitive and attractive destination for investment.
The inauguration of Nigeria House at Davos comes as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to rebrand the countryâs economy, attract foreign direct investment, and deepen its integration into the global economic system.
