Amupitan Seeks NPC’s Support to Rebuild Trust, Safeguard Credible Elections in 2027

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. James Amupitan, has called on the National Population Commission (NPC) to collaborate in restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking at a joint stakeholders’ forum in Abuja, Amupitan emphasized the critical role of accurate population data in ensuring credible voter registration and election planning. He stressed that partnership with NPC would help reduce incidences of voter disenfranchisement, enhance transparency, and strengthen democratic governance. The INEC boss also highlighted initiatives for improved technology adoption, continuous voter education, and stakeholder engagement as key strategies for delivering free and fair elections.
