AEDC Restores Electricity Supply In Abuja After Major Blackout
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has announced the restoration of electricity supply to several parts of Abuja following a widespread blackout that affected key government institutions, residential areas, embassies, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
According to the company, the outage was caused by a technical fault linked to the transmission network. Areas impacted included the Presidential Villa, National Hospital, diplomatic zones, Garki districts, parts of Asokoro, Lugbe, Aviation Village, and nearby communities.
AEDC stated that engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria worked round the clock to resolve the fault and gradually restore electricity to affected feeders across the Federal Capital Territory. The company also apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
Residents and businesses had earlier expressed concerns over the prolonged outage, which disrupted commercial activities, transportation services, and daily operations in several parts of Abuja. The restoration is expected to ease pressure on homes and institutions that relied heavily on generators during the blackout.
AEDC assured customers that it remains committed to improving power stability and urged residents to report any unresolved outages through its official customer service channels.
