Nigeria TV Info – Heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday wreaked havoc in Zaria, Kaduna State, where devastating floods displaced over 470 children and destroyed more than 270 homes across several communities.

A joint assessment team comprising the Nigerian Red Cross Society, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and local government officials confirmed the scale of destruction after visiting the affected areas.

The delegation, led by Zaria Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, inspected Kofar Kuyanbana and other severely impacted communities such as Gangaren Mobil and Bayan Cinema in Tudun Wada Ward, along with Magume, Bako Zuntu, and Kamacha in Tukur Tukur Ward.

Triggered by torrential early-morning rains, the floods swept away food supplies, clothes, household electronics, and other valuables, leaving hundreds of families stranded and in urgent need of aid.

Officials, however, expressed relief that no lives were lost, describing the survival of residents as an act of divine mercy in the face of such large-scale devastation.
