Nigeria TV Info — Youths in Kano Protest in Support of CP Ibrahim Bakori Amid Governor Yusuf’s Removal Demand

Kano, Nigeria — Hundreds of youths in Kano took to the streets on Thursday to show solidarity with the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, following Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s demand for his removal.

The protest came after a press conference backing the governor’s call for Bakori’s dismissal over alleged humiliation during the Independence Day celebration in the state.

Carrying placards with inscriptions such as “CP Kano Must Stay,” “Kano People Love CP,” and “Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Leave CP Alone,” the protesters argued that the governor’s demand was politically motivated and could weaken police authority while endangering security in Kano.

In a related development, Kano Agenda, a coalition of civil society organizations, has demanded an investigation into the reported police withdrawal during the Independence Day ceremony.

Addressing journalists in Kano, the coalition’s leader, Comrade Abbas Yakasai, said Independence Day should serve as a unifying moment for Nigerians rather than an occasion for political rifts.

â€œIndependence Day should be a day to bring the nation together above politics, divisions, and conflicts,” Yakasai stressed.

The development has further heightened political tensions in Kano, raising concerns over the balance between governance, security, and public confidence in the police force.
