Gabon came out stronger after the break, almost taking the lead following a lengthy VAR check for a possible penalty, but the referee opted to give only a corner. Nigeriaâs response was swift, with coach Finidi George introducing Moses Simon and Chidera Ejuke, whose pace and creativity injected new life into the attack.
The breakthrough finally came in the 78th minute when Osimhen converted from close range after a brilliant cross from Simon. Gabon equalised moments later through Aubameyang, forcing the match into extra time.
