UK to Replace Physical Visa Stickers with eVisas for Nigerians from Feb 25, 2026
The United Kingdom has announced that it will discontinue the issuance of physical visa stickers to Nigerian travellers starting February 25, 2026, replacing them entirely with digital eVisas in what officials describe as a major reform of the countryâs immigration system.
The announcement was made in Abuja by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), which stated that all new Visit visas granted to Nigerian nationals will now be issued electronically as part of the UKâs transition to a fully digital border regime.
Under the new system, successful applicants will no longer receive a visa vignette pasted into their passport. Instead, proof of immigration status will be available online through a secure UKVI account, which travellers can access when needed.
British authorities stressed that the visa application process itself remains unchanged. Nigerian applicants will still be required to complete the standard online application, attend a Visa Application Centre to submit biometric data, and meet all existing eligibility requirements.
Officials clarified that the only change affects how the visa is issued and accessed, describing the move as part of broader efforts to modernise and streamline the UKâs border and immigration processes.
