The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo may be spreading beyond officially recorded cases, raising fears of a broader health emergency.
According to health officials, there are growing concerns that not all Ebola infections have been identified or reported, increasing the possibility of undetected community transmission in affected regions. WHO experts say delayed case reporting, movement between communities, and limited healthcare access in some areas could make it harder to fully track the spread of the virus.
Emergency teams are reportedly strengthening surveillance, contact tracing, and treatment efforts to contain the outbreak before it escalates further. Authorities in DR Congo are also working with international health partners to improve response systems and public awareness campaigns.
The WHO has urged residents in affected areas to remain vigilant, avoid contact with infected individuals, and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms appear. Ebola symptoms can include fever, severe weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and in severe cases, internal or external bleeding.
Health experts continue to emphasize that quick detection, isolation of cases, and rapid medical response remain critical to preventing further spread of the deadly disease.
