Google to Invest USD 15 Billion in India, Build Largest AI Hub Outside US

Google has announced a major $15 billion investment over five years to establish a gigawatt-scale AI and data centre hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The company says this will be the largest AI hub it builds outside the United States.

The facility is planned to include advanced computing infrastructure, clean energy systems, expansive fibre networks, and a subsea cable landing station to connect globally.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian described the project as strategic to meet surging AI demand. Indian federal and state governments have welcomed the move, viewing it as a significant boost to India’s AI ambitions.

This announcement also aligns with similar AI and data centre investments from Microsoft, Amazon, and AI startups broadening their presence in India’s fast-growing tech market.
