Osun Governor Adeleke Resigns from PDP

Ademola Adeleke — governor of Osun State — has formally resigned from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His departure was confirmed in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Monday night.

The resignation letter, dated November 4, 2025, was addressed to the PDP Chairman for Ward 2 in Ede North LGA. Adeleke cited the ongoing crisis within PDP’s national leadership as the reason for his exit.

Although he has left the party, the governor did not state which political party he intends to join next. Speculation is rife that he may seek re‑election for 2026 under a new platform.

His resignation comes just hours before the scheduled PDP governorship primary — a move that has sparked further turbulence in the Osun State PDP chapter.

As a long‑time PDP member, Adeleke thanked the party for the opportunities it afforded him — first as a Senator and then as Governor.
