Again, Tinubu Wades Into Wike–Fubara Feud

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has again stepped into the lingering political feud between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in a renewed bid to restore stability to the oil-rich state.

Sources close to the Presidency disclosed that Tinubu recently held consultations with key stakeholders from Rivers State following the escalation of tensions that have continued to paralyse governance and polarise the political class. The feud, rooted in disagreements over political control and loyalty, has split the Rivers State House of Assembly and disrupted legislative activities.

The President is said to have cautioned both camps against actions capable of undermining democracy and national security, stressing that Rivers State remains too strategic to be plunged into prolonged instability. Tinubu reportedly urged reconciliation, dialogue and strict adherence to constitutional processes.

This latest intervention follows earlier peace efforts that temporarily doused tensions but failed to achieve lasting resolution. Political observers note that Tinubu’s repeated involvement underscores concerns within the Federal Government that the crisis could worsen if left unchecked.

Meanwhile, aides to both Wike and Fubara have publicly downplayed the rift, insisting that consultations are ongoing. However, developments on ground suggest the power struggle remains unresolved, with Tinubu now expected to play a decisive role in brokering a final settlement.
