Defence Minister Warns Terrorist Sponsors as Tinubu Gives Security Forces Full Go-Ahead

Abuja — The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd.), has issued a stern warning to individuals aiding terrorists, bandits, insurgents and other criminal elements, urging them to desist immediately or face the full weight of the law.

General Musa said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted security agencies clear authorization to decisively pursue not only criminals but also those providing them with support in any form.

The defence minister spoke on Saturday while serving as the Special Guest of Honour at the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day 2026 Golf Tournament held at the TYB Golf Resort and Country Club, Yar’Adua Barracks.

Calling for national unity in the fight against insecurity, Musa urged Nigerians to continue supporting the armed forces and other security agencies in their efforts to restore peace across the country.

“I call on all Nigerians to continue to support the armed forces and security agencies and work for peace. To those who are still helping bandits, criminals, insurgents and terrorists, they should stop,” he said.

Using a strong analogy, the minister warned that anyone found assisting criminals would be treated as one of them.

“They say the friend of a thief is a thief. For us, if we get to the battlefield and you are among them, then whatever happens to them happens to you,” Musa stated.

He further emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering, urging law-abiding citizens to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.

General Musa explained that the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day serves as an opportunity to honour both serving and fallen military personnel who have made sacrifices for the nation.

He reassured Nigerians of the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country and ensuring lasting peace and stability.
