Trending Boko Haram Video Sparks Fresh Alarm Over Abducted Victims in Woro, Kwara
A disturbing video showing dozens of abducted women and children has gone viral, intensifying fears over the fate of victims taken during the deadly attack on the Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State earlier this month.
The footage, widely shared on social media and reported by several news outlets, depicts 176 captives â mainly women, children and a nursing mother â seated or standing in rows under the watch of armed men suspected to be members of Boko Haram (Jamaâatu Ahlissunnah Liddaâawati walâJihad). In the clip, a militant questions the captives in Hausa about where they were abducted. Three women in the video identify Woro as the location of their kidnapping.
The group also accuses the Kwara State Government of underreporting the number of abductees, insisting the actual figure is far higher than official statements suggesting only 20â30 people were taken.
Government and security officials are analysing the video to verify the identities of the victims and coordinate rescue efforts. The Commissioner for Communications in Kwara State said authorities remain committed to securing the safe return of everyone impacted, urging calm amid rising anxiety across affected communities.
The release of the video comes weeks after the February 3â4 attack on Woro and neighbouring Nuku villages â one of the deadliest assaults in recent memory â which left scores of residents dead and homes destroyed.
Tension persists in the region as families await news of their loved ones and security agencies intensify efforts to respond to both the abductions and broader threats posed by armed insurgents in Kwara State.
