Kaduna Community Hails Governor Sani for Settling Hospital Bills of Bandit Attack Victims
The Irigwe community in Kamaru Ward, Chawai Chiefdom of Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, has lauded Governor Uba Sani for promptly offsetting the medical bills of victims of the recent Angwan Rimi bandit attack.
In an open letter dated September 22, 2025, and jointly signed by community leader, Mr. Barnabas Musa, and parentsâ representative, Comrade Raphael Joshua, the residents expressed deep gratitude to the governor for what they described as a lifesaving intervention.
They noted that treatment for several injured children at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital had stalled due to unpaid bills, but was immediately restored after confirmation of the governorâs payment on Sunday through the Chairman of Kauru Local Government, Hon. Bashir Tanko Dawaki.
âYour Excellency, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for your timely and compassionate intervention. Your swift action has brought renewed hope and comfort to our distressed community,â the letter stated.
The community also commended the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, for her professionalism, and Hon. Dawaki for diligently executing the governorâs directive âwith empathy and dedication.â
Governor Saniâs intervention followed a public outcry after reports emerged that the hospital had suspended treatment for the victims due to mounting bills. With the payments now cleared, critical care has resumed, restoring residentsâ confidence in what they described as the governorâs âpeople-centered leadership.â
Gunmen suspected to be bandits had attacked Angwan Rimi on September 15, killing two people and leaving several children critically injured. The victims were rushed to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital but faced interrupted treatment until the governor stepped in.
The community concluded its letter with prayers for Governor Saniâs continued success in building a safer and more inclusive Kaduna State.
