Ilorin, Kwara State — October 13, 2025:
Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has presented ₩80 million cheques to the families of forest guards and vigilante members who recently lost their lives during confrontations with kidnappers in Babanla, Oke Ode, and Eleyin communities of Ifelodun and Isin Local Government Areas.

In a similar gesture, the Governor also approved ₩100 million financial support for the families of security volunteers in Edu and Patigi Local Government Areas who died in an ambush by kidnappers in July while responding to abduction cases in the region.

The presentation took place in Ilorin on Monday, according to a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rafiu Ajakaye.

Governor AbdulRazaq, while expressing deep sympathy, hailed the bravery and patriotism of the fallen heroes, describing their deaths as a painful but noble sacrifice made in the line of duty.

> “We pray for the souls of the deceased. It was an unfortunate incident. They died in active service,” the Governor said.



He assured the bereaved families of continued government support, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.

> “Government cannot but sympathise with the families,” he said. “We will do the needful to keep supporting them and ensuring that the state remains safe. As you can see, the military has moved in with full force, and we will continue to back the Nigerian Army and other security agencies as they chase the criminals out of the state.”



Governor AbdulRazaq reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to stand by the security operatives and local vigilante members working tirelessly to protect communities against criminal elements.
