Navy Chief Abbas Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening National Security Through Collaboration

Makurdi, Benue State – As Nigeria continues to grapple with multiple security challenges, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has assured that the Nigerian Navy has put robust measures in place to secure the nation’s territorial integrity.

Speaking on Tuesday during an operational familiarisation visit to the headquarters of the Nigerian Navy’s Special Operations Command (SOC), situated along the banks of River Benue in North Bank, Makurdi, Vice Admiral Abbas emphasized the importance of collective effort in safeguarding the nation.

He stated that his leadership would prioritise partnerships with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders across society to enhance national security.

“The Navy is going to do its utmost best in securing this country,” Abbas said. “It’s not just by ourselves but because whatever we are doing is supposed to be a whole-of-society approach.”

The Naval Chief, who was accompanied by senior officers and representatives from other security services, reiterated his commitment to inter-agency cooperation, noting that unity among the armed forces and the public is vital to achieving peace and stability.

“As you can see, I have my other colleagues from other services and security agencies here. That is what I intend to do — to work with everybody. Everybody is important, and everybody will be on board to make this country a better and greater country,” he added.

Vice Admiral Abbas’s visit to the SOC headquarters is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational readiness and foster collaboration in addressing emerging security threats across Nigeria.
