China Unveils Futuristic “Space Warship” Concept Capable of Launching Jets and Hypersonic Missiles

China has revealed bold new plans for a futuristic space warship concept that could, in the future, deploy unmanned fighter jets and fire hypersonic missiles from near space, marking a dramatic vision for next-generation warfare.

Chinese state media on Tuesday released a computer-generated video showcasing the proposed aircraft carrier-style spacecraft, known as “Luanniao.” The footage depicts the massive triangular vehicle racing along the edge of Earth’s atmosphere, launching multiple unmanned jets while firing advanced missiles in a scene reminiscent of science fiction films.

The design has drawn comparisons to spacecraft imagery from the Star Wars franchise due to its sharp, angular structure and enormous scale.

According to Chinese reports, the Luanniao carrier would measure nearly 800 feet in length, potentially making it the largest platform of its kind ever envisioned. It is said to have the capacity to carry up to 88 unmanned “Xuan Nu” fighter jets, which could be deployed for high-altitude combat, surveillance, and strike missions.

Beijing claims the space-capable carrier could become operational within the next 30 years, forming part of China’s broader strategy to expand its air and space power capabilities. The project is reportedly being developed by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and is described as one of the country’s most ambitious aerospace initiatives to date.

While still conceptual, the announcement signals China’s growing focus on integrating space, air, and advanced missile technologies into future defence systems — an area that could reshape the global military balance in the decades ahead.
