Nigeria Clinch 16 Medals at 2026 African Cycling Championships in Abuja

Nigeria’s cycling team delivered a dominant performance at the 2026 Confederation of African Cycling Championships, finishing top of the medal table with a total of 16 medals at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome in Abuja.

The host nation secured nine gold, five silver, and two bronze medals, outpacing strong continental rivals including Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, and Algeria. The result cements Nigeria’s growing reputation as a rising force in African cycling.

The championship, which featured over 100 cyclists from eight countries, showcased elite competition across track and para-cycling events. Nigerian riders thrilled home fans with impressive speed, endurance, and tactical strength throughout the two-day contest.
