AFCON Qualifiers: Nigeria Draw Madagascar, Tanzania, Guinea-Bissau in Group L
Nigeriaâs Super Eagles have been handed a challenging but balanced draw in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they will compete against Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau in Group L.
The draw, conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), sets up a competitive qualification pathway for Nigeria as they aim to secure one of the spots at the continental tournament jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in 2027.
The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, are expected to be strong favourites in the group, but the inclusion of co-host Tanzania adds an interesting twist, as they will be motivated to perform well in front of home support during qualifiers played across multiple international windows in 2026 and 2027.
Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau are also seen as tricky opponents, having shown steady progress in recent AFCON qualifying campaigns. Nigeria will, however, rely on its depth of talent and experience to push for qualification comfortably.
With only the top teams from each group advancing to the finals, every match in Group L will be crucial as the Super Eagles begin another campaign to reclaim continental glory
