Insecurity: Tinubu Meets Service Chiefs as Military Pounds Terrorists
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday met with Nigeriaâs service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, amid renewed military offensives against terrorists across several troubled regions. The closed-door meeting focused on the worsening security situation, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, and strategies to sustain recent gains recorded by the Armed Forces.
Sources said the President received detailed briefings from the Chief of Defence Staff and service commanders on intensified air and ground assaults targeting terrorist enclaves, bandit camps, and insurgent supply routes. The military has reportedly stepped up coordinated operations in the North-East, North-West, and parts of the Middle Belt, leading to the neutralisation of several terrorist kingpins and the recovery of arms.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administrationâs commitment to defeating terrorism and restoring peace nationwide, urging the security chiefs to maintain pressure on criminal elements while improving intelligence sharing and civilian protection. He also stressed accountability, welfare of troops, and collaboration with state governments as key to long-term security.
